At this moment, I still can’t believe that I quit my job with absolutely nothing lined up, and with what little money I have, packed up my Honda Civic and moved south. I was never much of a risk taker, but perhaps that’s what has been holding me back from living out my life’s purpose.
I hit the road on July 16th for a 4 day journey to my new home in Florida. My first stop was Richmond, VA where my cousin, Carly, has lived for the past 5 years. I probably haven’t seen her in about 7 years, so there was a lot to catch up on.
When I arrived we did a quick walk downtown to stretch my legs and do some window shopping. Then we stocked up her little cooler and drove to the field where she plays football every Sunday night. During the game, I sipped on a can of rose while getting attacked by nasty black ants, and watched Carly crush it on the field. Although they didn’t win, it was super fun to hang out and get to know her friends. We ended the night celebrating National Ice Cream Day at Stoplight Gelato Cafe. Not only is the gelato delicious, but the story behind how Stoplight came to be is what makes this place so special. Go, sample, and feel the love.
Monday Funday! Can I just say this day started with the most delicious breakfast? Carly gave me the rundown on how to make fried plantains, and she put together this masterpiece with eggs, beans, avocado, sour cream, lime, and sriracha. I will forever have this breakfast in rotation. Too good!
We certainly #didallthethings, so I’ll give you a simple breakdown:
-
Hot House Yoga
Mochi ice cream
Eyebrow Wax
T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge walk
GWARBar
Dinner at Belle & James
Kabana Rooftop views
Night cap at The Jefferson Hotel
Richmond, you’re awesome! What an amazing place. There is so much to see and do, and oh, so many restaurants I must try. Consider me a RVA fan for life!
To my incredible cousin, Carly,
I cannot thank you enough for your graciousness and for taking the time to show me around your vibrant and beautiful city. I can certainly see why you stayed and never looked back. I look forward to visiting you and Max again soon. Gouda best!
