Welcome to The Burg! My home. A new beginning.

I arrived in St. Petersburg, FL a month ago. When I arrived, I unpacked my personal things and gave myself a couple of days to settle in over the weekend. On Monday morning I hit the pavement in search of a job. I made an effort each day to apply for something, anything, to get me started. What I learned is that looking for a job is a job in itself! I had incredible help from my Mom and Uncle, and amazing tips from one of the top career coaches in the Tampa Bay area, who I just happen to be renting from. I am so fortunate to have had their support in this transition. Within just 3 weeks, I landed a job working the back office at a Chiropractic clinic, and I couldn’t be happier.

It feels official now. I live here. I can start living here.

This has been such an unbelievable journey. It was not easy for me to take this leap of faith. Trusting in the unknown is not easy for anyone. I had no idea that when I got here if I would find a job, but I kept my hope in the fact that God opened many doors to get me here and that He would provide.

Even now, there are still so many unknowns out there in front of me: a permanent place to live, finances, etc. It’s difficult not to worry about these things when venturing out to a new place on your own, but God has provided me with everything I need. He has also blessed me some wonderful people here who have been such a great support system. It gives me peace. I will continue to trust and focus on His promises.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:25-34
